Product Packaging

The Aadvik Tufted Bed ships in a very flat and compact box. Don’t be alarmed, the entire bed comes in a single box and all of the parts are packed in the zippered back pouch of the headboard.

As for the packaging material, they use a few different types to protect the furniture parts: 

• Polyfoam sheet used to wrap and cover the tufted linen fabric of the headboard

• Corrugated cardboard sheet that lines up along the interior of the headboard separating the bed parts and hardware from the back of the headboard cushion

• Styrofoam that strategically sits in between some of the furniture parts for protection, and in corners of the headboard back pouch to prevent furniture parts from shifting during shipment

• Interfacing fabric used to individually wrap the tufted footboard and the bedside rails.

Hardware Packaging

The packaging of hardware is really important on many levels, namely for helping you get organized quickly before starting the assembly process and seamlessly progressing through it.

• The hardware comes in a small red or clear plastic bag and is easy to identify – Single bagged hardware usually does the job in safely transporting the hardware, but in some instances, the bag may arrive punctured and parts may be scattered around the shipping box.
  
  A more ideal scenario would be to receive the hardware parts double bagged in case the inner bag ruptures during shipment. 

• The hardware parts are not individually organized – The hardware itself comes mixed together inside the red plastic bag which means you will have to do some organizing prior to assembly.
  
  Receiving the hardware pre-organized is a bit of a luxury in the world of assemblies. Pre-organization would cost the manufacturer which is probably why they leave this task up to customers instead.

• There is a large variety of hardware parts, so you will have to spend a few miutes getting organized as shown below. This shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes to organize – maybe less! 

The packaging was not perfect, but it did the trick overall. The components of the furniture were adequately packaged to avoid any damage during transit.

The hardware packaging, however, can be improved by pre-organizing and double bagging all screws, bolts, and washers in order to avoid scattering or losing them during transit.

• The average assembly can take anywhere from 45 minutes – 2 hours which includes unboxing and organizing all of the parts. The assembly time will vary depending on your skill level and the tools you decide to use.

• The instruction manual is very helpful and easy to consume. The manual guides you through the assembly using picture illustrations that are magnified to show the proper orientation of furniture parts and hardware.

The furniture parts list and hardware parts lists feature the names, part numbers, quantities, and pictures of each individual part.

The assembly steps section features 6 individual steps that use zoomed-in picture illustrations demonstrating how to properly align the furniture parts and hardware as you connect them.

Assembly tips: 

• Wear knee pads if you have them – You’re going to be kneeling a lot, so you might as well protect your knees.

• Align your furniture parts correctly as illustrated in the instructions – Double and triple-check that you are using the right hardware and positioning the furniture parts correctly!

• Use the lowest setting of a power drill if you plan on using one – If you’re not experienced using a drill or not comfortable using one then you can use a screwdriver and the Allen wrench provided.

Overall, the assembly instructions are easy to follow. As mentioned in the beginning, depending on whether you’re using a power drill or not will determine how long it takes to assemble, but you can expect between 45 minutes – 2 hours to complete.

There are a couple of functional features that you will find yourself using quite often or daily. These two features are: 

• Upright seating – The headboard of the bed is rather tall and offers generous back and head support. The upholstery provides lots of cushioning, which means a more relaxed reading session or live-streaming your favorite show can be done without any neck strain whatsoever. You’ll have a better place to lean on than just hardwood or your arm!

• Low profile – Its practical design makes it easy to get in and out of the bed at any given time, and there’s just enough elevation which means items will be easier to reach when they fall underneath the frame. 

Getting in and out of bed shouldn’t be a hassle and neither should sitting in the upright position which both occur frequently when using your bed. Your bed is your sanctuary and should be associated with comfort – this bed provides it right away

(9) Portability

Rearranging your bed around the room is possible with one person, but a lot easier with a second pair of hands. 

If you have hardwood or marble floors you can slide the bed without damaging your floor by placing furniture pads under the legs of your bed. 

If you have rug floors then sliding the bed will be a more cumbersome task. Help from another person would be ideal with someone pushing the bed while the other person pulls. You can also slightly lift the bed and move it in small increments.

If you have to move the bed to a different location then partial disassembly will be required.

Disassembly Tips:

If there’s a need for partial disassembly, the steps are to:

• Unscrew the wooden slats that support the box spring and mattress

• Remove the bolts that secure the side rails to the headboard and footboard

• You will then have 4 parts to transport (headboard, footboard, left side rail, right side rail)

This bed is not exactly meant to be moved around like a suitcase. Although it can be done, moving the bed around a room, or transporting it to a different location is not a particularly easy task for a single person to do – due in large part to its weight and size.

(10) Safety

The cushy upholstery takes the fear out of grazing sharp corners while being distracted or in a hurry. The padded cushions hug the edges and corners of the bed, so if you bump into it in the middle of the day or night, it won’t cause any serious harm.

The staples used to attach the upholstery to the wood are not exposed!

Unfortunately, on some upholstered beds, the staples are showing which be disappointing for some. However, the unexposed staples on this bed help keep the area safe to sleep while also maintaining an upscale appearance..

Here are the dimensions of the Lorraine TV Stand:

• Shelf: 7.7” H x 22.1” W x 13.08” D

• Cabinet Interior: 15.5” D

Its base is 15.5″ L x 54″ W which stacks up well with other stands, but it’s not in the way and doesn’t take up too much space.

The height of this stand is set at 32″ which is sneaky tall. Most people are pleasantly surprised at how tall it actually is.

There are some reviews found on the internet with people reporting that the TV stand is wobbly after assembly is complete.

But having assembled this TV stand a number of times, the wobbliness can be attributed to the bottom 8 screws that secure the base not being fully tightened.

In the assembly video found below, you can see these 8 bottom screws being attached at the 01:00 minute mark.

Tip to Ensure Sturdiness:

• Use a power drill on the lowest setting to tighten the 8 screws at the base of the TV stand in order to secure the console and eliminate any wobbliness.

• If you don’t have a power drill, or you’re not comfortable using one, then you must be extremely intentional in firmly tightening the 8 base screws.

Additionally, the metal rail for the sliding doors seemed rugged enough to be used on a daily basis without having to worry about it loosening, or worse, falling off. And this wasn’t mentioned in any of the reviews.

• Each door has two pre-installed rollers at the top of the stand

• Each door has a pre-installed track guide at the bottom

The rollers on the barn doors are pre-installed and are easy enough to place on the metal rail. The screws for the bottom track guide may need to be loosened and properly placed in the track located at the base of the TV stand.

• Alternately, you can lay a moving blanket under and around it so that two people can slide or pull it level with one another.

The best option for smooth floors is to utilize the pre-installed sliders under the base in order to move the TV stand around the room whenever it’s needed.

  If you aren’t careful (children in particular) you can jam your fingers between the sliding doors and the left/right end panels of the TV stand.

• Some of the assembly steps are a bit vague – … but we have the solution! The manual is a bit unclear in showing you how to properly position certain parts before attaching them which can lead to you assembling parts backward or upside down. This TV stand is not an inexpensive purchase, But then again some people might find the extra cost worth it because they love its look and find value in all of the functions listed above.

Add a drop of wood glue on the tips of the dowel pins before inserting them into the furniture during assembly.

We must add that one of the customers we assembled this TV stand for loved the stand but was a bit surprised at the height of the unit and thought it would be a bit taller.

Tip Regarding The Size:

Assembling the Delaine TV Stand is a bit of an involved process and will require attention to detail and a lot of patience, even if you are handy!

Beware that the weight of the TV stand can make installation difficult without the effort of two people.

• It takes roughly 2-3 hours to assemble. When you add in unboxing and organizing parts before assembly, the overall process can take 2.5 – 4 or more hours to complete.

• The instruction manual uses picture illustrations that are magnified to show the proper orientation when attaching furniture parts and using the hardware.

• Here we created a step-by-step instruction video showing you how to assemble the Delaine TV Stand for TVs up to 88″ – this is if you want to give this assembly a shot yourself!

**IMPORTANT** – It is unclear in the instruction manual how to properly detach the faceplate from the electric firebox which is one of the more confusing parts of the assembly. To do this you need to unscrew the 2 screws located inside the heating vents on opposite sides.

The manual is simple, easy to follow, and organized by sections. The different parts of this guide will be divided into 3 sections:

The furniture parts list and hardware parts lists feature the pictures, part numbers, and quantities of each individual part.

The assembly steps section features 18 individual steps that make use of zoomed-in picture illustrations demonstrating how to connect the furniture parts and hardware – although a bit vague when it comes to the proper orientation.

Assembly Tips:

• Wear knee pads if you have them – You’re going to be kneeling a lot, so you might as well protect your knees.

• Align your furniture parts correctly as illustrated in the instructions – Double and triple-check that you are using the right hardware and positioning the furniture parts correctly!

• You need your own screwdriver – A screwdriver is not included for the steps requiring you to screw parts together so you’ll need to have a standard Phillips Head screwdriver handy,

• Utilize the lowest setting of a power drill if you plan on using one – If you’re not experienced using a drill or not comfortable using one then you can make use of a screwdriver (not included) and the Allen wrench provided.

In many cases one person can assemble it by themselves so long they are patient, take their time with each step, and are careful throughout the process.

There are two separate remotes for the electric fireplace and LED lights that are intuitive and easy to master. You may find yourself adjusting the settings from time to time, but otherwise, there’s nothing else to learn how to operate on this TV stand.

The remotes are easier to operate than you might expect, and it takes only minutes for the least tech-savvy person to get comfortable using its convenient features so you won’t have to spend hours watching tutorials on YouTube.

As mentioned earlier, the TV stand weighs 130 lbs which is considerably heavy. Moving the TV stand to a different location will be challenging and require multiple strong adults to move it.

Moving Tips (within the room):

The best ways to move the TV stand are:

• Use 4 furniture sliders underneath the four corners of the stand to make moving it on smooth floors easier.

• Alternately, lay a moving blanket under and around it so that two people can slide or pull it.

• 3 adults carefully lift and move the TV stand – two people on the ends and one person in the middle to support the electric firebox.

The best option is to purchase furniture sliders and keep them on hand so you can move the TV stand around the room whenever it’s needed.

With a partner nearby, you can partially lift each of the four corners of the TV stand one at a time in order to place the furniture sliders or moving blanket underneath the TV stand.

At the end of the day, moving the TV stand around a room or transporting it to a different location all together is not a particularly easy task, especially for a single individual.

  If there will be small children around this TV stand, then Installing clear rubber corner guards for childproofing is an easy solution to this problem.

Safety Tip: Clear rubber corner guards can be purchased for less than $10 and are totally worth the investment if it means avoiding a bad injury. 

• Metal heating vent gets hot
  
  The glass of the firebox doesn’t get hot because the flame is an LED display. The heat comes out from a vent just above the glass, and consequently, the metal that is guarding the vent will get hot during use.

Safety Tip: Keep an eye on small children when the heat is on as they can get curious and be tempted to touch the fireplace.
