Tvilum Scottsdale 6-Drawer Double Dresser Review: The Best Affordable Wide Dresser for Bedroom Storage?

Tvilum Scottsdale 6-Drawer Double Dresser Review: The Best Affordable Wide Dresser for Bedroom Storage?

Got more clothes than closet space? I feel you.

We’ve all been there. You open your bedroom door, and the first thing you see is a mountain of folded shirts on a chair, a dresser that’s about to burst, or suitcases that have become permanent storage fixtures.

It’s not exactly a pretty sight, and it’s definitely not the best way to start your day. That’s where the Tvilum Scottsdale 6-Drawer Double Dresser comes in!

It’s a sleek, wide-body storage machine that finds that perfect balance between elegant storage and no-nonsense organization.

With a clean, Scandinavian-inspired look, six roomy drawers that slide smoothly, and a handleless design, it keeps things looking sharp without resembling a clunky piece of office furniture.

And get this: a 2023 survey found that nearly half of Americans feel their bedroom is the most disorganized room in the house. If that hits home, a 60-inch-wide dresser with six drawers might be just what your space needs.

With over 9,000 reviews online, four different color options, and a solid 4.1-star rating, it’s safe to say this dresser is a popular and well-tested choice.

I’ll be honest, the two boxes it arrives in are pretty heavy. But once you get it assembled, its low-profile, wide design is impressive. It’s clean enough to fit into almost any bedroom and has plenty of surface space for a vanity, a TV, or some of your favorite decor.

I’ve put this dresser together for customers a few times now, and overall, it’s been a good experience. But there are a few things you should know beforehand that could make or break the process for you.

Keep reading for my full review of the Scottsdale 6-Drawer Double Dresser.

The Experience

This dresser arrived in two boxes. One was long and flat, and the other was short and fat. The smaller one is manageable for one strong person, but you’ll definitely need a buddy to lift the longer box.

If you live in a walk-up apartment, I’d suggest asking the delivery driver for a hand getting it inside—and slipping them a tip usually helps since they’re only required to drop it at your doorstep.

Once I got the boxes open, I saw all the parts were cushioned with styrofoam blocks. It did the trick, but I’ve seen furniture packaged more securely.

All the hardware pieces came jumbled together in one small plastic bag, which was enclosed in a brown box, so I had to spend some time sorting the screws, cam locks, and wooden dowels before I could even start building. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s a bit of a time-waster.

The instruction manual is all pictures, no text. That’s fine when the drawings are clear, but some of the steps were so crammed with details on one page that I really had to squint and study them to figure out what was going on.

But once it’s all put together? That’s when you see the payoff. After I slid that last drawer in and stepped back, the dresser looked fantastic.

The Scottsdale’s wide, low-profile design is genuinely polished and modern—it looks more like something you’d find in a chic hotel room than a piece from a big-box store.

Who’s The Tvilum Scottsdale 6-Drawer Double Dresser For?

  • If your clothes are bursting out of your current single dresser, and you need a serious upgrade.

You can do better than a single dresser. Six wide drawers with smooth ball-bearing glides give you the room to actually organize things — undergarments, shirts, pants, spare linens — without jamming everything in and hoping for the best. More space means more order, and more order means less stress every morning.

  • If you like clean, subtle, and sophisticated bedroom aesthetics.

With its clean-lined silhouette and neutral solid finish, this unit helps you find the perfect medium between elegant bedroom storage and practical organization, but in a grown-up, sleek way.

  • If you need a reliable solution for a guest room that doesn’t feel like an afterthought.

A nice dresser can make your guests feel right at home. It gives them a proper place to unpack instead of living out of a suitcase. It’s a small touch that leaves a big impression.

  • If you want to get genuinely organized and keep it that way.

This isn’t just a dresser; it’s a tool to help you declutter your room and your mind. We all know a tidy room leads to less stress and better sleep. With six drawers and a width of over 60 inches, this dresser gives you all the space you need to get organized and stay that way.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Six wide, smooth-gliding drawers — Each drawer opens quietly and smoothly with zero wobble, thanks to all-metal ball-bearing glides. You won’t have to deal with the noisy, rickety roller-wheel drawers you might be used to—these metal glides are built to last. Plus, the drawers are screwed right onto the glides, so they’ll never pull off the track.
  • Two-for-one versatility — This dresser has a seriously spacious top, measuring over 60 inches wide. It’s perfect for more than just clothes—add a mirror to turn it into a vanity, use it as a TV stand, or cover it with your favorite photos and decorations. Talk about a multi-functional piece of furniture.
  • Sleek, handleless design that works in almost any room — No pulls, no knobs, no hardware to loosen over time. Not only are the built-in groove pulls ergonomic and clean-looking, but they also simplify the aesthetic across all four color options.

Cons

  • The shipping boxes are very heavy to handle — This piece arrives in two heavy boxes, so you’ll probably need two people to move them. A hand truck or dolly might be a good idea if you have stairs to deal with. Definitely don’t try to move the heavier box by yourself
  • Heavy to maneuver once it’s assembled – Piggybacking off the last point, the dresser, when fully assembled, weighs about 114 lbs, so moving may be a challenge, especially with clothes, spare linens, and accessories inside.
  • Assembly can be a real challenge — Most of the negative reviews for this dresser boil down to one thing: assembly is a nightmare. The instruction manual only has pictures, no text, and some of the diagrams are so crowded that it’s hard to tell what’s going on. Honestly, you’re probably better off hiring a pro or finding a good step-by-step video to follow.
  • Shallow drawer depth — The drawer heights are about 4.2 inches deep, which is a bit on the shallow side. This is perfect for t-shirts, underwear, and other lighter clothes. However, you might find it a tight squeeze if you’re looking to store bulky items like thick sweaters or hoodies.
  • Parts sometimes arrive damaged — Some of the negative reviews for this dresser mention that parts arrived with dings, chips, or cracks. This isn’t too surprising since particleboard can get damaged easily during shipping, and the packaging could be a bit more protective. On the bright side, the manufacturer is quick to send replacement parts, and most orders show up in one piece.

Scoring The Tvilum Scottsdale 6-Drawer Double Dresser

For this section of the review, the Scottsdale 6-Drawer Dresser will be reviewed and given an overall score.

The scoring rules are simple!

  • There are 10 categories (see below)
  • Each category can earn up to 5 full points.
  • There will be an accumulative score out of 50 points.

Here are the 10 categories:

  1. Price
  2. Size
  3. Sturdiness
  4. Materials
  5. Features
  6. Packaging
  7. Assembly
  8. Usability
  9. Portability
  10. Safety

(1) Price

The Tvilum Scottsdale 6-Drawer Double Dresser is a great mid-range option for a wide dresser. It offers a lot of value, especially considering all its features.

Depending on the color you choose and where you buy it, prices typically land in the following ranges:

  • Black Wood Grain: ~$199–$229
  • Truffle: ~$199–$249
  • White High Gloss: ~$199–$249
  • Coffee: ~$199–$229

Considering what you get for the price, this dresser is a pretty great deal. It comes with six wide drawers that glide smoothly, a 60-inch top surface perfect for a TV or getting ready in the morning, a sleek handleless design, and anti-tip hardware.

As one Walmart customer put it:

“Great price and pretty solid dresser. We ordered 2 and put them side by side in our bedroom. Color was as expected. Looks sleek like hotel furniture.”

While it’s not the cheapest dresser out there, its style and features make it feel more expensive than it is. If you assemble it correctly (and hey, if you’re in the Boston area, we can even help with that), it’s a purchase you won’t regret.

It’s great value for the price. I’ve only taken points off because parts can sometimes arrive damaged, leading to unexpected costs and delays while waiting for replacements.

(2) Size

The Scottsdale 6-Drawer Double Dresser has a real presence, but not because it’s tall. It’s a low-profile, wide-body piece of furniture, and those dimensions really matter.

Here’s the full dimensions:

  • Overall: 27.6″ H x 60.55″ W x 19.69″ D
  • Drawer Interior: Approx. 4.21″ H x 27.7″ W x 17.16″ D
  • Top Weight Limit: 132 lbs
  • Total Weight: ~114 lbs

A few things to keep in mind. This dresser is only 27.6 inches tall, so it’s pretty low to the ground. That’s intentional—it’s part of the Scandinavian, low-profile design. But if you’re looking for something chest-high, this isn’t it.

As one Wayfair customer said:

“A little shorter than I expected, but absolutely love it nonetheless! Worth the money. Fit perfectly in my spot too!”

Advantage

Don’t let the short height fool you, this dresser makes up for it in width.

  • Each storage compartment is pretty wide compared to those you might see in other dressers, making it a great choice for things you use a lot, like undergarments.
  • At just over 60 inches wide, it makes a statement in any bedroom. The top is super useful, too—it’s wide enough for a vanity mirror, a flatscreen TV, a lamp, or a cute display of photos and decorations.

Potential Drawbacks

The drawers are a bit on the shallow side, with an interior height of 4.21 inches.

  • This is great for storing everyday essentials like t-shirts, socks, and underwear. However, you might find it’s a tight squeeze for bulkier items like heavy sweaters.
  • The overall height is not very tall at 27.6″. If you don’t take the time to get a visual of how it will fit in your space, then the height might be underwhelming.

Tip Regarding The Size:

Before you buy, it’s a good idea to measure the space where the dresser will go and the things you want to put inside it.

Sometimes, online pictures can be a bit deceiving, making the dresser look bigger or smaller than it is.

The low 27.6″ height might look a bit shorter than you’d think, especially if you’re putting it next to taller furniture. So, don’t just go by the photos—let your tape measure be your guide.

This piece has great width and plenty of space on top. However, it’s a bit shorter than average, and the drawers are quite shallow. If you’re looking for deep, generous drawer space, you might be a little disappointed.

(3) Sturdiness

Once you get it put together correctly, the Scottsdale 6-Drawer Double Dresser is a solid and reliable piece of furniture.

It’s designed just as well as any other dresser in its price range, and having assembled it myself multiple times, I can say it holds up well with normal use.

When fully assembled, the dresser clocks in at about 114 lbs. That’s a good amount of weight, which helps keep it stable and grounded once you have it in place.

The top can hold up to 132 lbs, so you can easily place a medium-sized flatscreen TV on it with a few other decorative pieces without worrying.

Here’s something I’ve learned after putting this dresser together more than once: its long-term sturdiness really comes down to whether you assemble it correctly.

I’ve seen some negative reviews from people saying it started to fall apart after a few months.

In most cases, it turns out they missed a step, forgot to glue a dowel, or didn’t tighten the hardware properly. When furniture is assembled the right way, it doesn’t just fall apart.

It’s also good to remember that the six drawers are meant for everyday use. Try not to overstuff them or cram in bulky items, as the particleboard bottoms aren’t designed to handle that much stress over time.

Tip Regarding The Sturdiness:

When you get to the dowel pins, don’t skip the wood glue! It might seem like a small step, but adding a drop of glue to each dowel pin is what will keep your dresser from getting wobbly down the road. It’s a little thing that makes a huge difference in the long run.

Also, be sure to tighten all the hardware completely, especially those cam lock fasteners, before you move on.

Once you get it put together correctly, it feels solid and stable and can hold a good amount of weight on top. I knocked off some points because it’s made of particleboard, which can be tricky to assemble and doesn’t handle being overstuffed very well. Also, be careful not to put too much heavy stuff in the drawers, as the bottoms might not hold up.

(4) Materials

The Tvilum Scottsdale 6-Drawer Double Dresser is mostly made from particleboard. For a touch of style, the inside of the drawers features a maple veneer, while the outside has a durable foil finish.

Main Body — Particleboard with Foil Finish

Particleboard (sometimes called MDF or engineered wood) is what most flat-pack furniture is made of. What’s cool about Tvilum is that they use PEFC-certified sustainable wood, which is a nice touch for the environment. The particleboard is covered with a foil surface that gives it that finished, wood-like look you see in the color options.

Benefits of Particleboard

So, what are the perks of this combo? The manufacturer says the surface is resistant to water, scratches, and stains—a real practical plus compared to untreated wood. It’s also super low-maintenance. You don’t need any special cleaners; just wipe it down with a damp cloth.

Drawbacks of Particleboard

But what’s the catch? Like all particleboard furniture, it’s not as tough as solid wood. It can chip or get dented during shipping or if you move it around. Also, while it can handle surface splashes, if liquid soaks into a chip or an exposed edge, the material can swell or bubble up.

Drawer sides showing particle board material

Drawer Interiors — Maple

Unlike drawers made entirely of particleboard, these have maple interiors—a definite upgrade. Maple is built to last, handling the daily wear and tear of sliding in and out without warping.

Drawer Glides — All-Metal Ball Bearings

Unlike the plastic roller-wheels you’ll find on cheaper dressers, this one has an all-metal drawer glide system with ball bearings. This means the drawers will last longer, open more smoothly and quietly, and can handle heavier loads without breaking down over time.

One Walmart reviewer highlighted this specifically: “Once completed, it is very sturdy. The drawer tracks are metal.” — Walmart customer

All in all, you’re getting great materials for what you pay. The particleboard is what you’d expect, the finish is practical, and the metal drawer hardware is a real upgrade that makes a difference.

For the price, you’re getting a decent mix of materials. The metal ball-bearing glides and maple drawer interiors are definite quality highlights. However, keep in mind that the particleboard can be easily damaged during shipping or by moisture. The finish also isn’t quite as nice as what you’d get with solid wood.

(4) Features

Here’s what makes the Scottsdale 6-Drawer Dresser both stylish and functional:

Feature 1: Six Color Variations

The Scottsdale comes in six colors, so you’ll have no trouble finding one that fits your bedroom’s current style:

The color options are:

  • Black Wood Grain: For a bold, modern vibe.It has a rich woodgrain texture that adds depth but doesn’t feel too heavy.

  • Black Matte: This one’s a flat, solid black finish that gives off a sleek, minimalist look. It’s perfect for contemporary or industrial-style rooms.

  • Jackson Hickory: A warm, mid-toned brown woodgrain with some natural variation. It brings a casual, lived-in feel to any space.

  • Truffle Oak: Think of a deeper, richer woodgrain tone that feels a bit more traditional. This one is a fan favorite and looks stunning in photos, especially in bedrooms with warmer lighting.

  • White Woodgrain: A soft white finish with a subtle woodgrain texture running through it. This gives it a lighter, more organic feel than a solid white.

  • White High Gloss: Bright, clean, and totally contemporary. Its reflective surface is great for making smaller rooms feel more open and airy.

All six options feature a durable paper foil laminate finish that looks like real wood and is super easy to clean with just a damp cloth.

I put together the Black Wood Grain, Truffle Oak, and White High Gloss versions, and I have to say, all three looked even better in person than they did in the online photos, which is always a nice surprise

Feature 2: Six Wide Drawers

With six drawers, the Scottsdale gives you a lot of space to work with—mostly.

The drawers are wide (27.7″) and deep (17.16″), so you can lay your clothes flat and see everything without having to rummage around.

But, as I mentioned earlier, the drawers are a bit on the shallow side, at only 4.2 inches high. A little more height would have been nice.

Still, the wide layout provides plenty of compartments to get organized, whether you’re separating your clothes by type or sharing the dresser with a partner. You can set up a system that works for you and actually stick with it.

One detail I really appreciate is that the drawers are screwed directly onto the glides. This means they won’t accidentally come off the rails during normal use.

It might sound like a small thing, but I’ve seen drawers on other dressers derail, and it’s incredibly frustrating. With this dresser, the drawers stay put.

Feature 3: All-Metal Ball-Bearing Drawer Glides

This is where the Scottsdale really stands out from other dressers in its price range.

The drawers run on all-metal ball-bearing glides, opening and closing so smoothly and quietly that it’s actually satisfying. You won’t get any rattling, sticking, or squeaking—just a silent, effortless glide every time.

Think about the plastic roller-wheel systems you find on most budget dressers. They tend to get noisy, drag, and wear out over time.

Metal ball-bearing glides, on the other hand, are built to handle heavy loads and daily use without breaking down.

As one Walmart customer put it,..

“Once completed, it is very sturdy. The drawer tracks are metal.”

Feature 4: Handleless Groove Pulls

Instead of traditional hardware like pulls or knobs, the Scottsdale features built-in grooves cut into the bottom of each drawer. This clever design offers a couple of key benefits.

First, it keeps the look sleek and modern.

Second, you won’t have to worry about handles or knobs coming loose over time, which is a common issue with most dressers.

Plus, from a practical standpoint, these grooves are comfortable and easy to use.

Feature 5: Spacious Top Display Surface

The top of this dresser is 60.55″ wide, making it super versatile.

You can use it as a vanity with a mirror, place a flatscreen TV on it, or display your favorite framed photos, lamps, and plants.

The dresser’s low profile also means the top surface is at a comfortable height, so you can easily grab what you need.

For the price, you get a lot of great features, especially the smooth all-metal ball-bearing drawer glides and the handy top surface. The only downside is that the drawers are a bit shallow.

(5) Packaging

Packaging might not be the most exciting topic, but trust me, it’s a big deal for two reasons.

First, there’s the product packaging itself, which is what keeps your furniture from getting banged up on its way to you.

Then there’s the hardware packaging, which can make or break how smoothly your assembly process goes.

Before you even touch a screwdriver, how these things are packed can totally shape your whole experience with this dresser.

In the unboxing video below, you can get a closer look at how everything was packaged upon arrival.

Product Packaging

Your Scottsdale 6-Drawer Double Dresser will arrive in two separate boxes. One is long and flat with the larger cabinet panels, while the other is shorter and bulkier with the rest of the parts.

Heads up: neither box is light, especially the longer one, which needs two people to carry it safely.

If you live in an apartment building or multi-story home, it’s a good idea to have a plan for getting it inside.

You might even want to tip your delivery driver to help, since they’re usually only required to leave it at your doorstep.

Material used:

  • High-quality, reinforced styrofoam is what they primarily use to line the edges inside the box and to fit in between some of the parts for protection. I was impressed by how sturdy it was because it didn’t break or flake off easily.

While the styrofoam is pretty firm and gets the job done during normal shipping, the protection isn’t as great as it could be.

None of the individual parts is wrapped in plastic, there are no foam sheets between the panels, and no cardboard corner protectors.

All of these would go a long way in preventing chips and dings while it’s being shipped.

Considering how easily particleboard can get damaged, this is one area where the packaging really doesn’t measure up.

Here are a few ideas that could help reduce damaged deliveries:

  • Plastic corner protectors on all interior box edges to absorb any bumps along the way.
  • Thin polyfoam sheets between stacked parts to keep them from scratching or chipping.
  • Thin cardboard strips running the length of the box to add an extra layer of protection between panels.

There’s certainly room for improvement when it comes to the product packaging, considering how susceptible the parts are to chipping during shipping.

A little extra goes a long way, and any of the above options would improve the overall packaging.

Hardware Packaging

When you open up the box, you’ll find all the hardware—fasteners, cam locks, dowels, and screws—tucked away in a smaller box.

  • The hardware comes in a small plastic bag – Normally, a single bag is enough to get the hardware to you safely. But sometimes, the bag can get punctured, and you’ll find parts scattered all over the shipping box.

A more ideal scenario would be to receive the hardware parts double bagged in case the inner bag ruptures during shipment.
  • Hardware parts are NOT individually organized – The hardware comes mixed together in a clear plastic bag. This means you’ll have to spend a few minutes organizing everything before you can even get started.
  • Moderate-to-large variety of hardware parts – You will have to spend a few minutes getting organized as shown below. This shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to organize!

It’s not the worst system I’ve ever seen, but it doesn’t compare to the nicely organized, labeled blister packs you get with higher-quality furniture.

With so many different hardware pieces needed for the 20 assembly steps, having them pre-sorted would have made the whole process much smoother.

In the end, the packaging does its job for the most part. But with very little protection for the panels and all the hardware jumbled together, there’s definitely room for improvement.

It’s not surprising that so many negative reviews mention damaged parts.

While the styrofoam blocks offer some protection, the packaging could be better. Without extra padding like polyfoam sheets or corner protectors, the particleboard pieces are likely to get damaged during shipping. On top of that, the hardware is all jumbled together, which makes getting started on the assembly a bit of a headache.

(7) Assembly

I’m not going to lie, this isn’t a quick assembly job.

Putting this dresser together is a full-on project, so make sure you clear your schedule and give it your full attention, especially if you’re not the handiest person or haven’t tackled a big assembly job like this before.

All in all, you’re looking at 19 assembly steps, or 20 if you count installing the anti-tipping hardware on the back.

  • It takes roughly 2.5 – 4 hours to assemble. Once you factor in unboxing and organizing all the bits and pieces, the whole assembly process can take anywhere from 3 to 5 hours. The exact time will depend on a few things: your skill level, whether you’re using a power drill or just a screwdriver, and how many times you’ve wrestled with flat-pack furniture before.
  • The instruction manual is all pictures, no words. This is fine when the pictures are clear, but it gets really tricky when things get complicated or you need to line up multiple parts just right. Some pages are super crowded with details and arrows, and figuring them out when you’re in a hurry definitely requires some patience.
  • I’ve put together a step-by-step assembly video to make things easier. Check it out below before you get started – it’ll save you a ton of time and frustration

2 Sections of the User Manual

The manual is simple, easy to follow, and organized into sections. The different parts of this guide will be divided into 3 sections:

  • Parts List – This section shows you all the hardware you’ll need, complete with pictures, part numbers, and how many of each you should have. After that, you’ll see a diagram of the furniture itself, with all the panels labeled so you know what’s what.

  • Assembly Steps – Here’s where you’ll find about 20 step-by-step instructions. Each step has close-up pictures to show you exactly which pieces and hardware to use, and how they all fit together.

Assembly Tips

  • Protect your knees – You’ll be kneeling a lot while putting the main cabinet together, so it’s a good idea to wear knee pads or put down a folded blanket or towel. Your knees will thank you for it.
  • Build the drawers first if space is limited — If you’re working in a tight space,  build all six drawers first and move them out of the room. This will give you more floor space to assemble the main cabinet. The drawers are the last step in the manual anyway, so building them early won’t cause any confusion and will make the whole process a lot smoother.
  • Don’t skip the wood glue on the dowel pins — As you assemble your new furniture, you’ll see pre-drilled holes for the wooden dowel pins. Before popping each dowel in, add a small drop of wood glue. This is one of the most important steps in order to keep the whole structure feeling sturdy and tight for years to come.
  • Use your power drill on its lowest torque setting — If you decide to use a drill, make sure to set it to a low speed. This will help you avoid stripping the cam lock fasteners or the screw holes in the particleboard. Trust me, stripped holes are a major headache and one of the top reasons assemblies fail, and they’re not an easy fix.

One satisfied Walmart customer left a review saying…

“Once assembled, it is very sturdy. With our experience and a love of puzzles, it took us about 4–5 hours to assemble. We actually bought three dressers for our walk-in closet, and none arrived damaged.”

While this customer had a helping hand, it’s definitely possible to assemble this dresser by yourself—just like I did in the assembly video!

The trick is to take your time, follow the steps one by one, and be careful as you go.

While the picture-only instruction manual works, it’s easy to make mistakes. Some steps are visually crowded, and with no written instructions, you might get confused. The 20-step process is quite involved, and having to sort through all the hardware yourself at the beginning is an extra hassle. I strongly recommend watching a step-by-step video—either mine (above) or the one on the BILT app, which has cool 3D animations and a voice guide.

(8) Usability

There are three functional features that make the Scottsdale 6-Drawer Double Dresser both easy to open and less prone to malfunctioning over time.

Drawer Retention — Screwed Directly Onto the Glides

  • The drawers are screwed onto the glide rails.
  • They won’t come off, get stuck, or fall out.
  • No need to readjust or reinsert them—they’ll stay right where they should be.

You don’t appreciate this feature until you’ve dealt with a cheap dresser whose drawers are constantly coming off the track. With the Scottsdale, the drawers screw right into the glides, so you’ll always have a smooth, stable open and close.

Drawer Accessibility — Full Extension

  • The drawers extend all the way out, so you have complete access.
  • You can see everything inside without having to rummage around.
  • The wide 27.7″ interior makes it easy to keep things organized and find what you need.

Full-extension drawers are a huge plus. We’ve all had those dressers where the drawers only open halfway, forcing you to blindly dig around in the back. With these, the drawers pull all the way out, so you can see and grab every last sock, shirt, or accessory in an instant.

Drawer Grip — Built-In Handleless Groove Pulls

  • Eliminates the use of handles, which can become loose over time
  • Comfortable and easy to use
  • No hardware that can loosen or break over time

The built-in groove pulls not only keep the look clean but also solve one of the biggest long-term maintenance headaches: traditional dresser hardware. Plus, they’re comfortable and easy to grip.

Storage Capacity — A Word of Caution

Just a heads-up: the drawers are about 4.21 inches deep, which is a bit on the shallower side for a double dresser. They’re great for t-shirts, underwear, socks, and other light items you can lay flat.

However, you’ll find they’re not quite deep enough for stacking thick hoodies or chunky sweaters. It’s something to consider when figuring out if this dresser works for your clothes.

The drawers are well-made with screwed-in retention, full-extension glides, and handleless grooves, making them reliable and easy to use every day. The only small issue is that the drawers aren’t very deep, so you might have trouble fitting bulkier clothes inside.

(9) Portability

Weighing in at 114 pounds, you’ll definitely need a buddy to help you move this dresser. Trust us, it’s a two-person job.

Here’s how to tackle it based on where you’re moving it:

Rearranging it in the same room?

  • On hardwood, tile, or marble floors: Pop some furniture sliders under the corners. This makes it a breeze to push and pull the dresser without scratching your floors.
  • On carpet: Sliding isn’t as easy here. Your best bet is to have one person push while the other pulls. You can also try lifting and moving it a little bit at a time. For low-pile carpets, a moving blanket under the base can help it slide more easily.

Moving it to a new room or home?

  • Don’t even think about trying to move a fully assembled, 114-pound dresser through doorways or down stairs. You’re just asking for trouble! Do yourself a favor and take it apart first.

Disassembly Tips

Here’s how to partially disassemble the cabinet:

  • First, take out all 6 drawers. You’ll need to remove the 2 screws that attach each drawer to its glides before you can slide them out.
  • Once the drawers are out, the main cabinet will be a lot lighter and easier to move around.
  • You’ll end up with 7 separate pieces to transport: the 6 drawers and the main cabinet. You can stack the drawers and carry them pretty easily. The main cabinet will still be bulky, but it’s much more manageable without the weight of the drawers.

Like other dressers of this size and weight, you won’t be moving it around on a whim. While furniture pads can help you slide it on smooth floors, you’ll need to take it apart a bit and get a friend to help if you want to move it to another room or a new home.

(10) Safety

While the Scottsdale 6-Drawer Double Dresser is generally safe once it’s put together, there are a few things you should know if you have kids or pets at home.

Sharp Corners – The corners of the dresser’s outer frame are angular rather than rounded. They’re not going to cut you, but if a child ran into one, it would definitely leave a nasty bruise.

  • Solution: If you have young kids running around the house, you’ll know how important it is to keep them safe from sharp corners. For an easy and cheap fix, you can buy stick-on rubber corner protectors for under $10 online. The best part? No tools are needed for installation

Finger Pinch Points on Drawer Sides – If you try to close a drawer from the side instead of using the handleless pulls at the top, you could jam your fingers. While this design feature is unconventional, you’ll find it’s safest once you get the hang of opening and closing the drawers correctly.

  • Safety Tip: To open and close the drawers, teach your kids to use the handle at the top — never to push or pull from the sides or bottom.

Furniture Tipping — Even though the dresser isn’t very tall, it’s quite wide and can hold a lot of clothes. This can make it top-heavy and a tipping hazard if young children try to climb it.

  • Solution: Time to install the anti-tip restraint that came in the box. It mounts to the back of the dresser and anchors to the wall in just a few minutes. If you have small children or climbing pets at home, this step is an absolute must.

With these precautions in place, you can enjoy the Scottsdale dresser in your bedroom without any worries.

Tvilum clearly had safety in mind with the anti-tip hardware and built-in finger-stop panels. However, I did have some concerns about the sharp corners and the risk of pinched fingers in the drawers. While you can easily address these issues, they’re something to keep in mind if you have little ones running around.

⭐️ Final Score: 41.6 / 50 (83%)

Scoring 41.6 out of 50 (or 83%) is pretty solid for a dresser in this price range. And honestly, that score nails what this piece is: a good-looking, functional storage unit that shines where it really matters for daily life.

I really liked the price, the six color options, the smooth-gliding drawers, and the versatile top surface.

So, where did it lose points? Mostly in the setup process.

The packaging wasn’t quite protective enough for the journey, the hardware was a jumbled mess, and the assembly required a lot more patience than I expected.

It’s also not easy to move, but that’s typical for a heavy, 114-lb dresser.

The bottom line is that once it’s built and in your room, this dresser is great. It’s just the getting-it-there part that could be a little smoother.

Read on to see how I think Tvilum could make this already solid dresser even better.

Final Recommendation

Bottom line? The Tvilum Scottsdale 6-Drawer Double Dresser is a stylish and practical storage solution that gives you a lot of bang for your buck.

With its clean lines, smooth-gliding drawers, handle-free design, and roomy 60-inch top, it’s easy to see why thousands of buyers have given it a thumbs-up.

There’s plenty to like here. The six spacious drawers are a dream to use every day, and the neutral color choices will fit in with pretty much any bedroom style.

Plus, its low-profile, modern look makes your space feel polished and intentional. For what you’re paying, you really can’t go wrong.

Now for the catch: like any flat-pack furniture, your final result depends on the assembly. This dresser requires a bit more patience than others.

But if you go in prepared (and maybe watch our assembly video first), you’ll end up with a piece of furniture you’ll love using every day.

Where It Can Improve

  • Product Packaging: The parts could be much better protected during shipping. Simple, low-cost additions like foam sheets between panels, plastic corner protectors, and wrapping individual parts would make a huge difference. Since so many negative reviews mention parts arriving damaged, this seems like the most impactful change Tvilum could make.

  • Hardware Packaging: Organizing and labeling the hardware by step number, or at least bagging each type of hardware separately, would make assembly much faster and less confusing. If you double-bagged the hardware, it would also prevent the pieces from scattering if the inner bag breaks during shipping.

  • Assembly Manual: Adding written labels to the pictures, like part names and orientation notes, would really help cut down on mistakes, especially during the more complicated steps. The pictures-only instructions are probably fine for people who’ve done this before, but they’re pretty tough for a beginner to follow.

  • Drawer Depth: The 4.21″ interior drawer height is perfect for a low-profile look, but it would be helpful if the product page was clearer about what clothes actually fit inside. This would help manage customer expectations and prevent anyone from being disappointed or underwhelmed after buying it.
