Cons

• You have to keep track of two remotes instead of one – The firebox and LED lights for the Delaine TV Stand are controlled by two separate remotes. Certainly not a dealbreaker but you might find yourself digging in between your couch seats twice as often.

• Some of the assembly steps are a bit vague – … but we have the solution! The manual is a bit unclear in showing you how to properly position certain parts before attaching them which can lead to you assembling parts backward or upside down. Good thing we created a step-by-step instruction video below showing you how to avoid these mistakes.

• The TV stand is a bit difficult to move – The TV stand weighs about 130 lbs which isn’t lightweight, but with two strong adults, it can be moved – either carefully lifted or slid across a smooth floor with felt tip pads attached to the bottom.

As far as functionality goes, its built-in electric fireplace in addition to its many other features like storage space, wire management, remote controllability, and overall sturdiness drives its price.

The most notable feature, the electric firebox, is unique and has functions the many other TV stands with electric fireplaces do not such as temperature control, timer setting, and flame dimmer as mentioned earlier.

This TV stand is not an inexpensive purchase, But then again some people might find the extra cost worth it because they love its look and find value in all of the functions listed above.

All things considered, including the overwhelmingly positive reviews left by thousands of customers, the Delaine TV Stand appears to be a great buy.

(2) Sturdiness

The Delaine TV Stand, weighing 130 lbs, is pretty sturdy and stable. As long as it’s assembled properly, it should not wobble or shake, even with a 90 inch TV mounted on it.

The TV stand’s built-in electric firebox is noticeably heavier than other electric fireboxes we’ve installed. It is also much wider than your typical electric firebox that’s built into a TV stand.

Together, the additional weight distributed more widely across the base of the TV stand will increase the stability of the entire unit.

Tip For Long-Lasting Sturdiness:

Add a drop of wood glue on the tips of the dowel pins before inserting them into the furniture during assembly.

The wood glue provides long-term reinforcement that keeps the TV stand from falling apart in case of screws loosening over time. It is a long-term solution that’s worth the extra bit of effort during assembly.

(3) Size

There are plenty of great features with this TV stand and electric firebox. One of the most impressive is its size.

Here are the dimensions of the Delaine TV Stand:

The width of the firebox and tv stand are larger than what you would commonly see. Given it’s primarily intended for televisions up to 90 inches, it doesn’t come as a surprise for the TV stand to be a whopping 79 inches.

As for electric fireboxes, you generally see the width range between 18-32 inches even for wider TV stands. The 40-inch wide electric firebox insert puts the TV stand over the top and makes it the center of attention in any room.

We must add that one of the customers we assembled this TV stand for loved the stand but was a bit surprised at the height of the unit and thought it would be a bit taller.

Tip Regarding The Size:

Make sure to utilize a tape measure to get an idea of how tall/wide/deep the TV stand will look against the wall in the room it will be placed in.

That way you aren’t over or underwhelmed by the size of the TV stand like some customers express in the reviews. You want to avoid the mistake of purchasing any furniture solely on the photos seen on the website

• Cardboard corner protectors are utilized to cover all edges of the largest box to prevent parts from getting dented or broken during shipping.

• Interfacing fabric is placed in between furniture pieces to prevent them from scratching one another during shipping.

• Reinforced styrofoam is utilized to pad the entire interior of the box and tightly encase all furniture parts.

Electric Fireplace Box:

• A Double cardboard box is utilized to ship the electric firebox

• Plastic corner protectors are utilized to cover all edges of the interior cardboard box which further protects the electric firebox from damage.

• Reinforced styrofoam is molded to create an encasement that the electric firebox sits in during shipment.

• Plastic wrap directly encloses the electric firebox.

Hardware Packaging

The packaging of hardware is really important on many levels, namely for helping you get organized quickly before starting the assembly process and seamlessly progressing through it.

• The hardware comes in a flat cardboard box and is easy to identify – The cardboard itself is sturdy and will prevent the hardware from scattering throughout the box. 

• The hardware parts are pre-organized in separate bags – The hardware parts come individually bagged and marked by part numbers which means you won’t have to do any organizing prior to assembly.

• The LED hardware comes in a flat cardboard box and is easy to identify – The different hardware parts inside the box are individual packaged in small plastic bags.

• There isn’t a large variety of hardware parts, so organizing shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes to organize – maybe less! 

The packaging for the Delaine TV Stand is of great quality across the board. In handling this tv stand on a few occasions, no damage has ever occurred. The material is top-notch in comparing it to similar tv stands and large pieces of furniture.

(7) Assembly

Assembling the Delaine TV Stand is a bit of an involved process and will require attention to detail and a lot of patience, even if you are handy!

Beware that the weight of the TV stand can make installation difficult without the effort of two people.

• It takes roughly 2-3 hours to assemble. When you add in unboxing and organizing parts before assembly, the overall process can take 2.5 – 4 or more hours to complete.

• The instruction manual uses picture illustrations that are magnified to show the proper orientation when attaching furniture parts and using the hardware.

• Here we created a step-by-step instruction video showing you how to assemble the Delaine TV Stand for TVs up to 88″ – this is if you want to give this assembly a shot yourself!

**IMPORTANT** – It is unclear in the instruction manual how to properly detach the faceplate from the electric firebox which is one of the more confusing parts of the assembly. To do this you need to unscrew the 2 screws located inside the heating vents on opposite sides.

At the 05:00 minute mark of our assembly video, I show you how to properly detach the faceplate from the electric firebox.

3 Sections of the User Manual

The manual is simple, easy to follow, and organized by sections. The different parts of this guide will be divided into 3 sections:

1. furniture parts list
2. hardware parts list
3. assembly steps

The furniture parts list and hardware parts lists feature the pictures, part numbers, and quantities of each individual part.

The assembly steps section features 18 individual steps that make use of zoomed-in picture illustrations demonstrating how to connect the furniture parts and hardware – although a bit vague when it comes to the proper orientation.

Assembly Tips:

• Wear knee pads if you have them – You’re going to be kneeling a lot, so you might as well protect your knees.

• Align your furniture parts correctly as illustrated in the instructions – Double and triple-check that you are using the right hardware and positioning the furniture parts correctly!

• You need your own screwdriver – A screwdriver is not included for the steps requiring you to screw parts together so you’ll need to have a standard Phillips Head screwdriver handy,

• Utilize the lowest setting of a power drill if you plan on using one – If you’re not experienced using a drill or not comfortable using one then you can make use of a screwdriver (not included) and the Allen wrench provided.

In many cases one person can assemble it by themselves so long they are patient, take their time with each step, and are careful throughout the process.

(8) Usability

There are two separate remotes for the electric fireplace and LED lights that are intuitive and easy to master. You may find yourself adjusting the settings from time to time, but otherwise, there’s nothing else to learn how to operate on this TV stand.

LED Remote

The LED remote allows you to:

• turn the lights on and off (2 buttons – on and off)

• adjust the brightness level (2 buttons – up and down)

• choose from 16 different colors (16 color-coded buttons)

• choose from 5 light patterns (static, flash, strobe, fade-change, smooth-change – 4 labeled buttons)

Firebox Remote

The firebox remote allows you to:

• turn the firebox on and off

• change between 3 flame colors

• adjust the temperature setting

• turn the flame LED light on and off (without heat)

• adjust the brightness of the flame LED light

• set a timer for the heat to be on

The remotes are easier to operate than you might expect, and it takes only minutes for the least tech-savvy person to get comfortable using its convenient features so you won’t have to spend hours watching tutorials on YouTube.

Usability Score: 4.5 / 5 pts

(9) Portability

As mentioned earlier, the TV stand weighs 130 lbs which is considerably heavy. Moving the TV stand to a different location will be challenging and require multiple strong adults to move it.

Moving Tips (within the room):

The best ways to move the TV stand are:

• Use 4 furniture sliders underneath the four corners of the stand to make moving it on smooth floors easier.

• Alternately, lay a moving blanket under and around it so that two people can slide or pull it.

• 3 adults carefully lift and move the TV stand – two people on the ends and one person in the middle to support the electric firebox.

The best option is to purchase furniture sliders and keep them on hand so you can move the TV stand around the room whenever it’s needed.

With a partner nearby, you can partially lift each of the four corners of the TV stand one at a time in order to place the furniture sliders or moving blanket underneath the TV stand.

At the end of the day, moving the TV stand around a room or transporting it to a different location all together is not a particularly easy task, especially for a single individual.

Portability Score: 3.8 / 5 pts

(10) Safety

The Delaine TV Stand is gorgeous, well-built, and sturdy once fully assembled. However, we found that there are a few potential safety issues with the TV stand.

Potential Safety Issues:

• Sharp corners of the TV stand.
  
  If there will be small children around this TV stand, then Installing clear rubber corner guards for childproofing is an easy solution to this problem.

Safety Tip: Clear rubber corner guards can be purchased for less than $10 and are totally worth the investment if it means avoiding a bad injury. 

• Metal heating vent gets hot
  
  The glass of the firebox doesn’t get hot because the flame is an LED display. The heat comes out from a vent just above the glass, and consequently, the metal that is guarding the vent will get hot during use.

Safety Tip: Keep an eye on small children when the heat is on as they can get curious and be tempted to touch the fireplace.

• California Proposition 65
  
  There’s a California Proposition 65 warming shown in the specifications section of the product page. A Proposition 65 warning informs a consumer that s/he is being exposed to carcinogens or reproductive toxins that exceed certain threshold levels.

Safety Tip: Keep the room well ventilated and avoid keeping the TV stand in high humidity, high moisture environments

By taking the necessary precautions, you can actively avoid potential safety hazards and create a safe environment.
